Player #317 for Aston Villa, Reginald Alfred Chester, known as Reg Chester, played as forward for the club.
Reg played for Villa between 1925-26 and 1934-35 making 97 appearances and scoring 32 goals.
Reg was born in Long Eaton, Derbyshire on 21 November 1904 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on 17 September 1925 aged 20.
Villa had signed Reg from Stamford Town in December 1924 and he signed professional forms on 12 April 1925.
Reg remained at Villa for 10 seasons at Villa Park and was mainly used as a squad player rather than a first team regular.
Reg’s most appearances in a single season was 20 in 1929-30, yet despite his relative lack of games - averaging less than 10 a season, Reg was a regular goalscorer when he played, hitting 32 goals in his 97 appearances over his decade with Villa, which included a hat-trick against Huddersfield Town in April 1929.
During Reg’s time, Villa achieved 5 top five finishes included two as First Division runners up.
Reg also made 2 appearances in Villa’s run to the Semi Finals of the FA Cup in 1928-29.
Reg played his final game for Villa on 12 January 1935 aged 30 before moving on to Manchester United in August 1935.
Reg had played under the George Ramsay and Billy Smith led Management Committees and under Villa’s first manager proper, Jimmy McMullan.
Reg passed away in his home town of Long Eaton on 24th April 1977 aged 72.
