Villa end the season having failed to score in their final three matches but despite spells of indifferent form they improve on 1905-06's finishing position of 8th to sit 5th in the final table having recorded nineteen wins, six draws and thirteen defeats in their thirty eight division one games.

Once again however the season was one of transition as the sheer volume of changes to the starting line up and the arrivals to and departures from the squad meant the team was crying out for stability in order for it to challenge for honours once again. With Harry Hampton showing glimpses of his previous form when available much was resting on his, Joe Bache’s and Albert Hall’s goalscoring capabilities to drive the team higher.
