Biography
Samuel Greenhalgh
Player #184 for Aston Villa, Samuel Greenhalgh, and known as Sam Greenhalgh, played as a midfielder for the club in the position then known as right half.
Samuel represented Villa between 1905-06 and 1907-08.
Samuel was born in Eagley in May 1882 and made his debut for the club as a 23 year old on the 17th February 1906.
Villa had signed Samuel from Bolton Wanderers just a month earlier in January 1906.
Samuelโs biggest contribution came in his second season Villa when he appeared 30 times in the league.
In total Samuel made 48 appearances however he was soon to return to Bolton Wanderers where he played 259 times over 2 periods interrupted by his 2 years with Villa.
Samuelโs final game for Villa came on 21st September 1907.
Samuel played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Samuel passed away in Bolton in 1944 aged 62.
