Joe Pearson

Player #143 for Aston Villa, Joseph Frank Pearson, known as Joe played as a midfielder for the club in the wing half position.

Pearson represented Villa between 1900-01 and 1906-07 making 117 appearances and scoring 6 goals.

Joe was born in Brierley Hill on 19th September 1877 and was signed by Villa from Saltley College FC.

Pearson made his debut in the 2-3 Division One loss against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, 3 November 1900 aged 23 and scored his first goal for Villa in the 4-1 FA Cup win against Sunderland on Saturday, 7 February 1903.

During his time with Villa Joe won the FA Cup in 1904-05, Villa’s fourth win in the competition and helped Villa overcome Corinthians to win the 1900-01 Charity Shield.

Pearson made his final appearance for Villa in the 2-3 Division One loss against Middlesbrough on Saturday, 27 October 1906 aged 29 before he retired from football with a knee injury.

Joe played his entire Villa career under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Joe passed away in Birmingham in 1946 aged 69.
