On This Day
Playing just 24 hours after their defeat at Vetch Field, Jimmy Hogan's Villa gain swift revenge for their defeat as Swansea are beaten at Villa Park with Frank Shell grabbing a brace.
The scoreline, heavy thought it is, was hard work in obtaining against a Swansea side playing way above their usual level, Villa though, despite their finishing woes, hit four with three coming in the final 18 minutes once Swansea's resistance was broken,
Villa win for the second time in three to make it twenty two wins, seven draws and ten defeats in thirty nine division two games.
Villa move back to top of the table with their game in hand win but as Coventry are also victorious it is a leadership shared by three including Sheffield United.
Manchester United in fourth sit four points behind with six left to play for, Sheffield United have just four more points possible.
