Ronnie Starling scores two in two first half minutes before Eric Houghton scores from the spot a minute after half time but Wednesday manage to equalise before a Frank Broome winner 5 minutes from time.
Villa bounce back from their shock defeat at Blackburn to win for the eighth time in ten games in all competitions and make it fifteen wins, five draws and six defeats in twenty six division two games.
Villa remain joint leaders but following Coventry's latest defeat it is only Sheffield United that sit level with Jimmy Hogan's men.
