George Pritty

Player #380 for Aston Villa, George Pritty, played as a midfielder for the club in the position then known as a wing half.

George played for Villa in 1936-37 and 1937-38 making 4 appearances.

George was born in Nechells, less than 2 miles from Villa Park, on 4 March 1915 but started his footballing career much further afield.

Villa had signed George from Newport County in May 1935 but he had to wait 2 years to make his debut by which time Villa were playing in the second tier for the first time in their history.

George’s debut would be his only appearance in his first season.

The following season, 1937-38, George played 3 times as Villa won the Second Division Championship resulting in Villa’s return to top flight football after 2 years away.

George played his final game on 12 March 1938 after which he moved on to Nottingham Forest in December 1938.

George played under Jimmy Hogan.

George passed away in Birmingham on 1 July 1996 aged 81.
