Bill Carey
Player #383 for Aston Villa, William James Carey, known as Bill Carey, played as a goalkeeper for the club.
Bill played for Villa in 1937-38 making 4 appearances.
Bill was born in Prestwich, Manchester on 21 September 1913 and made his debut appearance for Villa on the 16 October 1937 aged 24.
Villa had signed Bill from Sedgley Park in May 1936.
Bill was the 45th custodian of the Villa goal in League & Cup football and over his 4 games Bill kept 3 clean sheets conceding just once at a ratio of 0.25 goals per game.
That was a better ratio than any other Villa keeper to date playing more than once for the club.
Bill however would not get the opportunity to test his talent over a longer spell however as he played his final game on 23 February 1938 before retiring from football.
Bill had played under manager Jimmy Hogan.
Bill passed away in Colchester in September 1998 aged 85.
