Villa lose to Swansea for the first time in their history after a 48 turnaround from their victory over Tottenham at Villa Park.
Swansea, struggling at the foot of the table, put in their strongest performance of the season at the most inopportune moment but Villa do not do enough and lose for the second time in four League games as they are beaten at Vetch Field.
Villa make it twenty one wins, seven draws and ten defeats in thirty eight division two games.
Villa fall off top spot as Sheffield United win again to open a 2 point lead however the Villa still have two games in hand over the Sheffielders. Coventry and Manchester United join Villa, level on points, in second place, with promotion in the balance.
Winger John Maund, 23, made the last of his 48 appearances for Villa during which time he scored eight goals before moving on to Nottingham Forest in July 1939.
