Saturday, 17 April 1937
ON THIS DAY
Villa lose four consecutive games for the first time this season and have now achieved that feat in each of the last three campaigns under Jimmy McMullan and Jimmy Hogan having previously not lost four in a row since January 1928. As a result Villa make it twelve wins in the last thirty four second tier games and an overall record of sixteen wins, twelve draws and twelve defeats in forty division two matches.
Jimmy McMullan had recorded five wins, five draws and three defeats in his thirteen division two matches in charge and his successor Jimmy Hogan had now delivered eleven wins, seven draws and nine defeats in his twenty seven game spell.
Meanwhile, winger Freddie Goss made his second and final appearance for Villa before moving on to Wrexham in September 1938 whilst full back George Beeson made the last of his 70 appearances before moving on to Walsall in June 1938.
