On This Day
Pongo Waring scores his thirtieth of the season and Tommy Moore makes a goalscoring debut but Villa end the season on defeat as they are beaten by the last kick of the game and last kick of the 1931-32 League campaign.
Villa finish in fifth place.
Billy Smithโs side break the one hundred goal barrier for the second consecutive League campaign.
Villa had however failed to hit the heights of 1930-31 as once again, in common with previous seasons under Billy Smith, Villa had experienced fallow periods that prevented any chance of a sustained title challenge.
That said it was not until the penultimate game of the season that a second successive runners up finish was ruled out and had it not been for the controversial handling of Villa and Newcastle's uneccessary games in hand over the busy period then the table could have looked different.
Winger Tommy Moore made his sole appearance for Villa aged 22 - scoring for good measure - after joining from Stourbridge in February before moving on to Bournemouth in August 1934.
