Villa recover from their disappointing derby defeat to Albion to beat neighbours Birmingham as Pongo Waring scores his eighteenth of the season 

Villa win for the second time in three and have now lost just one of seven home league games, winning six.

After topping the scoring charts in 1930-31, Villa have 35 goals in 12 games already this season with only leaders Everton having scored more.

Villa have now scored three or more goals seven times in fourteen games so far this season and five or more four times.

Villa make it eight wins, two draws and four defeats in fourteen division one games

Villa now have two clean sheets in 14 games in 1931-32.

Villa's eighth win of the season leaves them joint 7th as they have still been unable to fulfil their games in hand due to lack of action from the League.

Villa sit level on points with Leicester and Sheffield United, both of whom have played 16 games to Villa's 14.

Only leaders Everton have lost less games than Villa and only the top four clubs have one more having played two and in some cases three more matches than Villa.

Winning their games in hand would lift Villa to second in the table.
