"A second disaster to the famous Birmingham side has followed immediately on that of Saturday."
*The Morning Post*

FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.
The League Championship.
Another Defeat for Aston Villa.
A second disaster to the famous Birmingham side has followed immediately on that of Saturday, for yesterday at Olive Grove, Sheffield, Sheffield Wednesday vanquished Aston Villa by three goals to none. The match aroused widespread interest around Sheffield, and there was a crowd of 10,000 people. By the aid of a fine defence Sheffield Wednesday made the play fairly even in the first half, in addition to which they were able to score the only goal of the first period at the end of some 40 minutes, Ferrier being the kicker. Sheffield played in great form in the second half. Spikesley scored a couple more goals, and Aston Villa were beaten by three to none. It is curious that two of the clubs who had done badly this season should be the first to inflict defeat on the Villa.
