Villa remain 18th but extend the gap to the relegation places to five points with nine games left to play. For once though it is Villa on the lucky side as they are awarded a generous penalty before a legitimate free kick aided their winner.
Dick Taylor's wildly inconsistent Villa win for the first time in four to make it eleven wins, five draws and seventeen defeats in thirty three League games so far this season.
