Meanwhile, one of Villa's greatest ever players, forward Peter McParland made his final appearance for aged just 27 before moving on to Wolverhampton Wanderers later this month. McParland played for Villa between 1952-53 and 1961-62 making 342 appearances and scoring 120 goals winning both the 1956-57 FA Cup and 1960-61 League Cup.
