Tommy Ewing
Player #493 for Aston Villa, Thomas Ewing, known as Tommy Ewing, played as an outside right for the club.
Tommy played for Villa between 1961-62 and 1963-64 making 45 appearances and scoring 6 goals.
Tommy was born in Larkhall, Scotland on 2 May 1937 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 3 February 1962 aged 24.
Villa had signed Tommy from Partick Thistle for a fee of £20,000 earlier in February 1962.
Villa were yet again to sign a Thistle internationalist having already signed wing half Jimmy Gibson, (228 appearances, 10 goals) in April 1927 and left back George Cummings (232 appearances) in November 1935.
Sadly however, Tommy didn’t reach the heights of his predecessors as he was dogged by injuries throughout his time with Villa.
Tommy played his final game for the club on Saturday, 11 April 1964 before returning to Partick in July 1964.
Tommy had played under Villa manager Joe Mercer.
