Player #487 for Aston Villa, Alfred Hale, known as Alfie Hale, played as a forward for the club.
Alan played for Villa in 1960-61 and 1961-62 making 7 appearances and scoring twice.
Alfie was born in Waterford, Ireland, on 28 August 1939 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Wednesday, 19 April 1961 aged 21.
Villa had signed Alfie from Waterford United for a fee of ยฃ4,500 in June 1960.
Alfie made two appearances as Villa finished 9th in their return to Division One but didnโt feature in Villaโs victorious run to the League Cup final in 1960-61 and didnโt play in the two legged final against Rotherham United that was held over to the following season due to fixture congestion.
However, Alfie couldnโt force his way into the Villa first team on a regular basis and went on to make just 5 more first team appearances, scoring twice.
Alfie played his final game for Villa the following season on Saturday, 24 February 1962, still aged just 22 and he moved on to Doncaster Rovers in July 1962.
Alfie had played under manager Joe Mercer.
