In blazing heat at White Hart Lane Villa concede the first goal for the third consecutive game in 1933-34 as they lose for the second time in three at the start of the season
Dai Astley scores for the third successive game in a second half bombardment of the Spurs goal as Pongo Waring scores one and makes one for his third goal involvement of the season.
The real story however is referee Snape's deeply unsatisfactory performance having singlehandedly handed Spurs a two goal first half lead with a series of decisions described as "not obvious" and "obscure" from two of which the home team directly scored.
