"The fact that I took Peter Broadbent off and substituted Simmons was in no way a reflection on his performance in that match or an any of the matches he has played for me.
"Broadbent had been ill for most of Friday night and it was only because of this that chose him to come off.
โI did not want to tax his strength in any way for he has been a key man.โ
