Villa finished the season unbeaten in three games, winning once - enough to leave them one place above the relegation places.
Forward Dean Saunders made his final appearance for Villa aged 30 before moving on to Galatasaray S.K. for a fee of £2,350,000. Saunders had played for Villa between 1992-93 and 1994-95 making 144 appearances and scoring 50 goals.
Centre back Shaun Teale made his final appearance for Villa aged 31 before moving on to Tranmere Rovers for a fee of £450,000. Teale had played for Villa between 1991-92 and 1994-95 making 179 appearances and scoring 5 goals.
Left back Phil King made his final Villa appearance aged 26. King was only signed for Villa by Ron Atkinson in August 1994 but wasn’t to be part of Brian Little’s plans and would move on to Swindon Town in March 1997 having made 23 appearances.
