Following Ron Atkinson's premature sacking, Jim Barron, Atkinson's assistant for the last three years, takes charge in the dugout as Villa fire into a three nil lead within 27' before Spurs hit back with a penalty and own goal but Dean Saunders has the last laugh as his 90' strike secures Villa a first Premier League win in ten and leaves Jim Barron with a 100% win record.

ON THIS DAY
The first game since the departure of Ron Atkinson saw Villa win their first league game in 10 under the stewardship of Jim Barron.
Despite the result the White Hart Lane match would prove to be Barron’s sole game in charge of Villa as new boss Brian Little was installed ahead of the following weekend’s fixture.
Graham Fenton scored his first, and only, goals of the season and what would prove to be his final two goals of the three he scored for the club in 39 appearances between 1994 and 1995.
Future Villa centre back Colin Calderwood lined up for Spurs.
Defender Chris Boden made his first squad appearance for Villa having come through the youth team set up.

"BAPTISMS of fire do not come much hotter then this. Both Gerry Francis of Spurs and Jim Barron of Aston Villa were taking charge for the first time and must surely have got more grey hairs after this game."
*The Sunday Life*
Sunday, 20 November 1994
BAPTISMS of fire do not come much hotter then this. Both Gerry Francis of Spurs and Jim Barron of Aston Villa were taking charge for the first time and must surely have got more grey hairs after this game.
Villa started the game a lot more brightly and opened the scoring when a corner kick was taken short and swung over by Earl Barrett, whose near post cross was forcefully forced in by Dalian Atkinson.
Spurs were shocked and after 20 minutes they were 2-0 down.
Fenton beat Mabbutt easily and drilled his shot Saunders in from 12 yards and six minutes later the same player made it three when he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and side-footed it coolly past Walker.
Spurs were left fighting for their lives and it was down to Sheringham, who poked in a far post cross just before the break, to give them hope.
Six minutes after the restart Spurs pulled another back, Jurgen Klinsman scoring from the spot after Sheringham's shirt was tugged in the box and then he levelled the scores in the 72nd minute.
But with the Spurs fans roaring their delight and expecting more, Dean Saunders ruined the party in injury time, cracking a superb shot in from just outside the area.
