Brian Little returns to his former club and doesn't have to look too far to see nearly 20,000 reasons why he chose to leave a side racked by a small club mentality. Meanwhile, local pundits, who should know better, pile in on the 'dropped' Paul McGrath. Almost unnoticed however is Villa's 3 game Premier League unbeaten run since the departure of Ron Atkinson. Despite the relative upturn, Villa fall to 20th in the table.

ON THIS DAY
In a hugely one-sided and unreciprocated display of acrimony, Brian Little returned to East Midland minnows Leicester City just two games since leaving them to join his boyhood club, Villa.
Defender Chris Boden made his one and only appearance for Villa aged 21 after joining the club as a trainee. Boden moved on to Derby County in March 1995 for a fee of £169,000.
Bryan Small made his first start of the campaign having last played for Villa as a 46’ substitute in the final game of the 1993-94 season.
Former Villa ‘keeper Kevin Poole, former Villa centre forward Ian Ormondroyd and former Villa midfielder Mark Blake lined up for Leicester.
Future Villa midfielder Mark Draper, future Villa winger Franz Carr and future Villa forward Julian Joachim also featured for the Foxes.

"ASTON Villa striker Guy Whittingham saved his new boss Brian Little from a nightmare return to Leicester."
*The Sunday Tribune*
Sunday, 4 December 1994
ASTON Villa striker Guy Whittingham saved his new boss Brian Little from a nightmare return to Leicester.
Little endured an almost incessant torrent of abuse from Leicester fans, still angered at the way he quit the club last week to take over at Villa.
The 41-year-old had been met by some 200 fans who taunted him with cries of "liar" and "Judas" as he got off the team coach.
Recalled Leicester striker Phil Gee then rubbed salt into the festering wounds by scoring after just five minutes.
Whittingham, however, struck the equaliser just past the hour to at least bring his manager some consolation, even if he is still searching for a first win.
Villa have drawn both Premiership games under his charge to remain deep in the relegation mire, having crashed out of the Coca- Cola Cup at Crystal Palace in midweek.
His former players were clearly intent on ensuring he had a miserable return and got the early goal they wanted after just five minutes.
Garry Parker should have snatched the lead minutes later when he sidefooted wide after Welsh international Dean Saunders had dragged the ball back, though Leicester substitute Julian Joachim then went close with a flashing drive.
