MATCHDAY QUOTES
"Carlton Palmer grabbed the winner for Leeds in the dying seconds, three minutes after Bosnich - booked at the end of the first half for time wasting was sent off following a dust-up with the England international."
*The Sunday Independent*
Sunday, 30 April 1995
Aston Villa tumbled deeper into the relegation mire in dramatic fashion at Elland Road.
Carlton Palmer grabbed the winner for Leeds in the dying seconds, three minutes after Bosnich - booked at the end of the first half for time wasting was sent off following a dust-up with the England international.
Nigel Spink took over in goal with Dwight Yorke going off, and was immediately in action, doing well to turn away a shot from Gary McAllister.
But the veteran keeper's luck was out just when Villa thought they had gained the point their piay deserved.
Tony Yeboah whipped in a cross that deceived the Villa defence and Palmer raced into the penalty cox to crack a fierce shot beyond Spink .
Manager Brian Little could hardly believe it and neither could the large band of travelling fans who had been in good voice all afternoon.
John Lukic was again in inspired form for Leeds including a wonder save from a powerful Paul McGrath header.
Villa, who have won only one of their last ten matches, dominated the pattern of the play for most of the game and looked anything like a struggling side
Then came that dramatic last three mutinies that changed the face of the game.
