MATCH SUMMARY
Villa can only draw against Leicester but make it 5 games unbeaten and six points above the relegation places occupied by Birmingham and Wolves with three to play. Birmingham are already relegated and Wolves can only catch Villa if they win their three remaining games and Villa cannot secure a point. Meanwhile the Leicester media provide laughs aplenty with the preposterous description of Dick Taylor's men as "lowly Villa". Leicester sit three places and three points above Villa and face their 'lowly' opponents in their next game.
KEY MAN
Phil Woosnam, scored to earn Villa the draw and extend Dick Taylor's unbeaten run to five games for the first time this season, Monday, 19 April 1965.

ON THIS DAY
Dick Taylor's Villa are now unbeaten in five League games for the first time this season but drop a point as they are held at Filbert Street to make it fourteen wins, four draws and twenty one defeats in thirty nine division one matches this season.
At the same point in 1963-64, under former manager Joe Mercer, Villa had lost sixteen and won ten before going on to finish 19th, two places above relegation.
In consequence, with just three games left to play, Dick Taylor just needed to continue the unbeaten run to ensure Villa’ safety from relegation in his first season as manager.
