Villa are held at home after their opening day defeat at newly promoted Leeds to leave them with one point for their first two games of 1928-29.
In a game of ugly confrontation Frank Moss is sent off on the last of his 283 appearances over his eleven seasons with the club before moving on to Oldham Athletic in August 1929.
Villa suspend Moss for a month and despite his great service to the club place him on the transfer list, ending his Villa career.
The other player sent off, Hanson of Manchester United, is just "severely censured".
