Norman Swales

Norman played for Villa in 1928-29 and 1929–30 making 8 appearances.

Norman was born in New Marske, Guisborough on 25 October 1908 and made his debut appearance for Villa on the 26 January 1929 aged 20.

Villa had signed Norman from Scarborough for a fee of £1,000 in November 1928 and he went on to appear twice in the FA Cup and 5 times in the league in his first season.

Norman appeared just once in his second and final season, playing his final game for Villa on 5 February 1930 before moving on to Durham City in May 1932.

Norman had played under the Billy Smith led Management Committee.

Norman passed away from Hodgkin’s disease on 10 September 1961 aged just 52.
