"Yorke cooly converted the penalty for his 20th goal of the season and his eighth in six games this month."

*The Sunday Tribune*
Sunday, 25 February 1996

Mick Harford salvaged a precious point for trap door candidates Wimbledon against Villa at Selhurst Park.

Harford beat Bosnich with a blistering header after Kenny Cunningham had swung over a right wing cross in the third minute of injury time.

It was a great escape for the Dons, who did their best to commit soccer suicide by conceding two own goals and a penalty.

And their late rally was inspired by transfer listed Vinnie Jones, who went on as a 74th minute substitute, having been left out of the last nine games.

Jon Goodman put Wimbledon ahead before central defender Alan Reeves sent a stunning half volley into the roof of his own net in an attempt to clear Andy Townsend’s cross.

Goodman though restored Wimbledon’s lead a minute after the interval with a close range header but then Villa took charge of the rest of the half.

Savo Milosevic - having not scored in eleven - squandered two excellent chances before Reeves tripped Dwight Yorke in the area.

Yorke cooly converted the penalty for his 20th goal of the season and his eighth in six games this month.

The Dons looked down and out when Cunningham put through his own net after 57 minutes as he sliced the ball inside the far post trying to prevent Yorke’s centre reaching Milosevic.

But in the dying seconds the Dons grabbed the equaliser.
