"Alan Shearer stopped the Blackburn rot with a goal to salvage a vital point with a magnificent opportunist volley in the 52nd minute."

*The Sunday Tribune*
Sunday, 10 September 1995

Alan Shearer stopped the Blackburn rot with a goal to salvage a vital point with a magnificent opportunist volley in the 52nd minute.

Without it, Ray Harford would've been in trouble: few Champions lose more than five games in a season but Rovers were facing a fourth defeat in five games.

A superb strike from Villa’s Savo Milošević threatened to stretch Rovers losing run and his first goal for his new club was worth waiting for: Henning Berg blocked of Dwight Yorke's run and the ball spun to Milošević who struck a left foot curler with pace and accuracy from 20 yards.

If Milošević had taken two other good chances, Blackburn would now already be preparing to remove the title trophy from their cabinet.
