ON THIS DAY

Another high-scoring game at Villa Park following the annihilation of Wimbledon last time out and another 8 goals scored yet the points are shared as Villa let a 4-1 lead slip to a Mark Draper inspired Leicester City.

A cruising Villa side threw away a three goal lead and allowed Leicester to equalise in the final minute, happily the key player in the Leicester side, midfielder Mark Draper, would, by the start of the following season, be lining up in a Villa shirt.

Winger Franz Carr made his Villa debut aged 28 as an 88’ substitute after joining from Leicester City earlier this month for a fee of £250,000.

Former Villa ‘keeper Kevin Poole and former Villa midfielder Garry Parker lined up for Leicester as future Villa defender Simon Grayson also featured.
