MATCHDAY QUOTES
"Bosnich who had done so well, dropped a right clanger and it got a bit silly after that.
“We lost concentration right from start of the second half and it was very disappointing.
“We had come here to be strong and make it hard work for Arsenal but I don't see any need to apologise for that.”
Brian Little.
*The Sunday Tribune*
Sunday, 22 October 1995
Mark Bosnich blundered to send Arsenal on their way to victory at Highbury, handing Paul Merson a tap in goal shortly after the break.
The luckless Villa keeper had performed miracles to keep Arsenal out before the interval but two minutes into the second half, Bosnich failed to hold the winger’s low cross and Merson was presented with an open goal six yards out.
In the 78th minute, Ian Wright doubled their lead but even then, however, Wright’s mishit shot went in off the diving Bosnich’s body.
