"Devey at length made the scores level with a header, and the game ended in draw one goal each."
ASTON VILLA v. SHEFFIELD UNITED.
The tie between these teams at Birmingham on Saturday created a vast amount of interest. Aston Villa had the best of the opening exchanges, Foulkes being called on several times, while Wheldon and Devey only missed scoring by inches.
For all that, however, the Sheffield were the first achieve success, Field scoring for them late in the half, and at the interval they led one goal to nil.
On the play being resumed the Villa men showed very poor combination, and there was very little in their attack. Subsequently, however, they improved, and Foulkes was several times called upon to save. He was in splendid form, however, and kept out a number of good shots in admirable style.
Devey at length made the scores level with a header, and the game ended in draw one goal each.
