BOLTON WANDERERS v. ASTON VILLA
This postponed League game was played at Bolton yesterday before 6,000 spectators, and in beautiful weather. The Villa had been training at Lytham. Both teams were at full strength. Somerville reappearing for Lockhart. Playing with the wind and sub in their favour, Villa at once attacked, and Athersmith shot wide from a fine opening, after Garraty had hit the upright.
Play was then more even, M’Ateer and Gilligan each missing fine openings. Sutcliffe saved from Wheldon when on the ground and M’Ateer shot over at the other end, Cowan just stopping Jack soon afterwards.
Smith did good work but at the interval neither side had scored.
In the second half George had to save smartly, the Wanderers pressing for a time.
