On This Day
Villa suffer their first home defeat of the season and it's former player Derek Pace - who still trains at Villa Park - who scores a hat-trick to leave his old club shocked.
You can't say Villa weren't warned, it was Pace's third hat-trick in his last five games.
Villa find themselves off the top of the table for the first time this season as Cardiff beat Orient, and having won whilst Villa were occupied in the cup have now played an additional game and are three points ahead of Villa at the top of the second division table.
Joe Mercer's Villa suffer a shock defeat at home - their first of the campaign - and just their fifth defeat in thirty four games this season but their second in six to make it nineteen wins, seven draws and five defeats, four away, in thirty one division two games.
