“Usually, as a coach, I had this problem a lot of times. And how I needed to take the decision, building the team, trying some players being with the possibility to play different positions, being versatile.
“Now, I don’t have another issue different than before I had in another moment, or in other countries and other clubs, or even here in Aston Villa. And other teams, as well, they have this problem with players being injured.
“But we are, after the transfer window finishing, and with some change we did, and with the players, they are injured, we are working with different possibilities.
“Lamare Bogarde, for example, is very good possibility, and getting good performance with us progressively, because he was here when I arrived here, three years and a half (ago), he was here.
“He was in the academy, he was training with us, he was going on loan. Now, how he’s performing and playing as a right full-back, he played marking (Kaoru) Mitoma and playing as a midfielder, playing a lot of matches. I am confident.
“And then, the consistency of Amadou Onana, the performance of Ross Barkley after he was injured, and Douglas Luiz, how he is adapting, and I think progressively getting better, I think he played a good match on Wednesday.
“We have enough players to replace as a midfielder, to replace as well, full-back, Andrés (García) and Matty Cash, with the players we have.
“And two months ago, we were without Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres, and (Victor) Lindelöf played fantastic some matches in a row.
“This is our work, this is something that makes me more intense in my focus each match with the possibility we can have and to get the performance as soon as possible.
“The players, they are ready to play, and they are always opening their mind to try to help us in different positions, being versatile.”
“He [Douglas Luiz] left from here one year and a half ago, and he didn’t perform well, or he didn’t play a lot in Juventus and in Nottingham Forest.
“Coming back here, we knew before, and I spoke with him, you must again, to recover, to remind everything we were doing here, and through it, you were performing so, so good, and through it, you got those deals leaving from here.
“And we were speaking about the time he needed to get it, and we are doing it. And the three matches he played, the last one on Wednesday, I think, in the progression he is, he played a good match.”
“He’s [Alysson] a winger. Left foot winger playing normally on the right side, and can play in the left side, but normally he’s playing on the right side.
“He has qualities or skills like, more or less, Leon Bailey – left foot playing in the right side, and he has a huge potential.
“Of course, his adaptation is being progressively better, but he needed time, and he is still needing time to adapt to us, and to get his best performances.
“But each match or each training session is very important for him.”

“Firstly, I’m thankful for the supporters.
“It was really fantastic how they were transmitting their energy; we felt it. There were some fantastic moments when we started winning. We started in a good mood and good form.
“The players competed fantastic, but after we had the red card, it was becoming more difficult in the second half.
“We continued competing, and the supporters were helping us. We were being resilient, but when they scored their first goal, it was a little bit more difficult.
“We tried, but it was not enough. Newcastle is a really fantastic team, and they’re contenders in this competition.
“After we lost, with the circumstances we had with the red card, I think we must analyse this match and this competition and feel like we’re improving.
“Today, we’re not happy, but I watched some things in the squad that can help us for the future in the Europa League and Premier League.
“And the supporters with the energy they transmitted to us, we need it again next week against Leeds United.
“Tammy Abraham scored one goal two weeks ago that was taken away by VAR, and today he scored.
