“It is everything, because the adaptation is something that some players need more than others.

"But the team is going forward and being very demanding to achieve individual and collective performance, also the consistency we need.

“Some players, they need more time, or we can speak about how he struggled last year, Buendia, to achieve what he is doing this season.

“Harvey Elliott, he is working very well. He is working consistently. He is a good guy and his commitment to Aston Villa is fantastic.

“I am happy how he is doing his work here, but now it is difficult because he has other players playing and performing well, for example Emi Buendia and other players.”

"I think Villa have got an exceptional manager, they've got exceptional talents and when they're in the final third, they can score goals,”

"It's been a really tricky start. I think the Villa fans probably expected some big signings to come in, but they've had to sort of stabilise budgets, and they've openly said that.

“I think for Aston Villa as a whole, every club wants to keep progressing and keep moving forward.

"They've had a few great results over the last couple of weeks and then, obviously, it was a tough ask against Liverpool.

“But I believe if they went and won there, they'd be in those top positions. That's after the first few games where everybody was writing them off!

"But yeah, they'll definitely be up there. It's a special fan base that will travel home and away. They're that 12th man and are, really, really, really good fans.”

“As I said, they've got an exceptional manager, a great captain in John McGinn who's done brilliant things for the club.

"When it comes to Morgan Rogers, you look at him and say, 'Is he an eight, is he a 10?' I'd just let a player like Morgan Rogers be free when you've got the ball in that final third because he's always creating chances. You always feel in a game that he'll get a goal or an assist.

"I think he's an exceptional talent. I think he's at a great age where he could put that consistency together of 10 goals, 10 assists each season.

“You'll then really start to see Rogers kick on and get the praise that his ability deserves.”

“We had the challenge in this match, how we were coming back after our break and how we performed last month, getting very big wins against the better teams in the Premier League – Tottenham, Manchester City, Bournemouth.

“But we were able to show again our capacity to be consistent, and away, compete like we did, progressively better.

“The second half (was) better, but overall, 90 minutes, I am so happy how we competed. Even the first half, we didn't play brilliant, but we were always trying to set our gameplan on the field, and progressively we did it.

“After we played away five matches, we only won one match, against Tottenham, (the other) four matches, we draw two, and we lost two. And today was the challenge, if we were able to get the average.

“The average, more or less, thinking in 38 matches how we can finish today in the table for our ambitious objective to be in the top positions in the table, and we did it.

“I am so proud of the players. Of course, thankful for the supporters, because they were pushing us, and they were helping us, and they travelled here to be with us.

“And I think, we could help, to be happy then as well. And now it's keep going, and of course happy, and of course to analyse now the match, trying to get as well, deeply, everything we did.

“But I can analyse now overall the match, and progressively how we played today, how we did the competitive way today, I am so, so happy.

“We need individual performance. We must get our structure stronger, collectively, tactically, be disciplined and organised, but individually, we need how they can feel comfortable, confident, play with their skills.

“And in different matches, we are showing, as well, individually, our performance. And today, was brilliant, Morgan Rogers, but Morgan Rogers, he's playing fantastic, even when he's not getting his numbers, like today.

“Scoring goals, of course, is more brilliant, and for the supporters or for everybody, is more relevant, his work, but always, he's doing his task.

“And now, I can say as well, the work he did today, (Ollie) Watkins, was fantastic. And at the same time, Morgan Rogers always is working very well, he is doing his task, Watkins.

“And, of course, we need Emiliano Buendía, we need (Jadon) Sancho, we need (Evan) Guessand, we need (Donyell) Malen, today fantastic, how he was impacting the second half.

“And, as well, we need Ross Barkley, how he is as well helping the team progressively getting better, and feeling confident as well, playing (as) a 10 number, and, of course, overall, how we felt in our structure, strong in 90 minutes.”

“It’s a difficult place to come. They’re really strong at home. They played really well, with a high intensity. We had to dig in, we had to dig deep,

“Luckily, we managed to find two goals in the second half to win the game, which is the most important thing.

“Of course, we want to play better with pretty football, but you can’t always do that in the Premier League. Different teams pose different problems. We were really good with grit and determination, and we got the win.

“We played a lot quicker with more intensity [in the second half] and tried to hurt them more. In the first half, we didn’t really cause that many problems, but in the second half we definitely did. We played a lot quicker and a lot more forward.

“That definitely helps, but normally it’s about our heart and our spirit to win. Competing in battles, competing in duels, keep running, keep working. It was a difficult win; they pushed us right to the limit.”

“I call it the Emi Buendia. He did it in the last game before the break. It's something I've been practising, probably not as hard as him or as much as I should.

“Once he was off the pitch, I looked around and there was nobody else that really practised them, so I thought, ‘why not?’ I know I’ve got them in the locker. It’s about consistency. From so close, it’s just about getting it up and down as quickly as possible.”

“His impact was positive with goals. Always he plays well. He does his task and he is versatile across different positions.

“Maybe today he showed that he is angry to score. Being angry, he scored two goals, focusing on how he could get numbers. He did it, helping the team and for our victory today.

“He is a player who can get numbers. Last year he got double numbers for goals and assists. This year I think he will get this again.

“He was playing fantastic before this match, not getting numbers, but helping the team. With those goals today, it’s more brilliant.

“I think Morgan is very important when he is scoring and when he is not scoring. He is working tactically, being versatile, and performing very consistently.”

“Overall, I am happy with the team. Through our structure, tactically, we were disciplined and organised. We played with personality. Each player felt comfortable in their best position and getting confidence.

“There is still some work to do for some players, but how we are progressively getting better is really something I am proud of. I am very demanding in our way because now we are better in the table.

“My message is the same. We are not contenders for the top six or top four. We fought fantastic to be there or competing for those positions. Now we want to do the same.”
