Villa play a League game for the first time in over a month and given the conditions were totally unsuitable to football it had to be questioned why it went ahead. Villa's game was one of only three played and no constructive football was possible as it predictably ended in a no-score stalemate.
Joe Mercer's Villa taste League action for the first time in five weeks and make it ten unbeaten with just two defeats in their last nineteen games to make it ten wins, seven draws and six defeats in twenty three division one games so far in 1962-63.
