Villa had signed George from Coatbridge Boys and he signed professional forms with Villa on 1 December 1961.
George made 4 league and cup appearances in his debut season including playing in the both legs of the 1963 League Cup Final against Birmingham City.
Despite the early promise however George’s Villa career didn’t ignite and he played his final game for the club on Saturday, 18 April 1964 aged just 19 before moving on to Chelsea for a fee of £5,950 on 1 July 1964
George had played under Villa manager Joe Mercer.
George would go on to become the famed title winning Arsenal manager of the 1980s
