Bolton then have their first attack of the second half on 60' and score before adding a third as Villa, with an opposition player offside, play to the whistle and stop, only for the referee to allow play to continue claiming it was a whistle but not 'his' whistle.

Villa continue to create the chances chasing the game but with a man down their efforts are unfulfilled.
