"Collectively and individually [we have targets].

"We will need his [Morgan Rogers’] numbers and, more or less, he is getting it. I am very demanding with him, with the team, with myself.

"[I am demanding] with Morgan because he is very important for us but I need his performance every match we are playing with different objective. “We are building the team. After the adaptation of Amadou Onana, he is getting better, but there is still work to do for everything we want to get from him. [Boubacar] Kamara, last year he was playing fantastic. He was getting injured and now he is coming back really strong, feeling comfortable and feeling in good form.

“We have to try to use our players with their qualities, skill, capacity and combinations we can have. Youri Tielemans can play as a midfielder, six, eight and 10 like he played [against Man City], and last year.

“With Ross Barkley, we are feeling the same. He is really working very well. His adaptation has been fantastic with us. As always, I am pushing to get more from him. Now we are more or less trying to get our structure as strong as possible, and thinking as well with the players we have in different matches.

“The last match we played with Amadou and Kamara, was a very good practice we did, performing very well, both players, and keeping the same structure right that we have. This is the way. I want from them, the same mentality to play in different combinations. Last Saturday was a fantastic job they did, Kamara and Onana. I am firstly looking to impose and dominate with our structure.

“The matches being different, we can adapt more or less with our opponent. My choice is the feeling that day as well, with the opponent and characteristics.

"I spoke with him (Watkins) about the important player he is in the squad, sometimes playing and playing and playing or sometimes not playing, like in the last matches for different circumstances.

”One of those is because Jhon Duran is progressing and increasing his demand in our task every match.

“Collectively as well I need from the players tactical work. He (Duran) is understanding, improving, increasing his commitment to do the work we need. Of course, Ollie Watkins is always doing it. Now my challenge is to try and get the best of them individually and hopefully I can play with both being successful and getting the tactical idea we have.

"We need the players to be competitive but also honest and respectful. Watkins I think is always 100 per cent honest. His commitment is fantastic, he is always doing his work for the team and then individually with the target he has.

"He told it, he started the season a little bit late because he was with the national team. He also had a little bit of pain in that moment and was not getting his form like we needed it. We were also introducing Duran and he helped us a lot. Then progressively Watkins was feeling better and now I think he is good.

"Of course, he had a small problem in Leipzig and that is one of the circumstances of which I was speaking about why he did not play the second half there and why he did not start against Nottingham Forest. Duran is performing well and of course he is deserving to keep playing."

“When I arrived here, my thoughts were that it is the most difficult league. A lot of teams have capacity, with good players, good coaches and good history. Different moments for different teams.

“Now is the moment for Nottingham Forest, but their history is a huge history in the Premier League and even in Champions League, with two wins. Bournemouth now as well, are performing very well. There are a lot of teams now getting more points than normal.

“Those points they are getting is because the quality of the teams and players is very high. The league is a very interesting league, very motivating for us, each match how we can get points and be better. Now we are sixth, we are trying to focus each match, be consistent. We are feeling better at home, but away, it is completely different. It’s our challenge. Our next challenge is Newcastle away.

"I am always trying to dominate and impose with our structure. There are different matches, we can adapt more or less with the opponent. It is as well about my choice, my feeling about the opponent, their style and player characteristics. am trying always about our structure and then the other 50 per cent for the opponents. Man City dominated more than we wanted in the first half and we needed to adapt, but the second half we started to impose our style on them.

"Against Newcastle I am going to prepare 70 per cent for us and 30 per cent for the opponent, but maybe it’s 60, 40. Hopefully as well we can dominate their in moments of the game but it will be difficult."

"We conceded early and that's demoralising. And then the red card happens and that's tough. At times we defended well as a team but when you are defending for most of the game chances will come. We have to learn from this.

"It was a harsh decision. I think the referee guesses based on the reaction of the players. When Duran plants his left foot, he twists his ankle when he puts it down, which automatically pushes you to the left-hand side. He has to come back in which is why he stands on him so I think it's a harsh decision.

"Once they have given it on the pitch they are not going to overturn it. I just think they should have slowed it down and given it a bit more time."

"I get what Unai Emery is saying. He is not necessarily saying it's the wrong decision, but he is [criticising] such a knee-jerk reaction when the referee had the opportunity to go and look at it and have some understanding of why that has gone on.

"I completely agree [with Shearer]. Once the left ankle rolls, his immediate reaction is to compensate and that right foot comes over but there is not enough time [to avoid contact]."

"Always I am supporting VAR but you have to use VAR. Today the red card was clear for the referee straight away, he was the only person in the stadium who couldn't take his time. He has to be intelligent to take time and get the right decision.

"In this case you have to use the VAR. He has to be smart, and calm. It has to be like that.

"The red card more or less kills the game, it changes it completely.
