"Dorset referee Paul Durkin deserved top marks for keeping the grudge match between the two promoted sides under control."
*Sunday World (Dublin)*
Sunday, 19 March 1989
MILLWALL powered to their 10th home win of the season thanks to fine goals by Kevin O'Callaghan and Terry Hurtock.
Villa, with only one away win to their credit, rarely threatened the best home record in the first division with Millwall strengthening their grip on third place behind Arsenal and Norwich.
Millwall struck early with O'Callaghan rifling home Tony Cascanno's third minute cross which had been touched on by Teddy Sheringham. Cascarino then helped Millwall finish the job 10 minutes from time when he headed the ball into the path of Hurlock who beat Lee Butler with a thunderous shot into the top corner of the net.
Hurlock was one of three players booked by Dorset referee Paul Durkin who deserved top marks for keeping the grudge match between the two promoted sides under control.
