MATCHDAY QUOTES

“Just recently, after our latest results, I have been left wondering what we are doing in this Division.”

Graham Taylor.

*Aberdeen Evening Express*
Thursday, 2 March 1989

GRAHAM Taylor takes his Aston Villa side to the Caribbean for a 10-day break today hoping to reinstil the confidence that can save the club's season.

Villa, who have won only two of their last nine League games, lost 2-0 to Tottenham and remain dangerously close to the relegation zone.

England's mercurial winger Chris Waddle destroyed Villa with both goals at White Hart Lane. His first came in the 22nd minute when he finished off a superb run by driving an unstoppable shot past Nigel Spink and be added another after 67 minutes by volleying over Spink from yards. Only the bar denied him a hat-trick.
