Villa get their second successive win and sixth in seven League games as they beat Everton, the team directly above them in the League at the start of play, at Goodison.
Despite going a goal behind in the first minute, Colin Gibson scores his first for the club and Johnny Dixon grabs a brace for his fifth goal involvement in five games (three goals, two assists).
Surprisingly, after his terrible performance in the previous meeting in November, referee Salmon is allowed to officiate.
Although not hitting his previous lows Salmon did either miss, or conveniently not see or act on a blatant Everton handball in the box.
Villa climb to 17th, one point and one place behind Chelsea who are up next at Villa Park.
