John Graham
Player #398 for Aston Villa, John Graham played as a forward for the club. John played for Villa between 1945-46 and 1948-49 making 15 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
John was born in Leyland, Lancashire on 26 April 1926 and made his professional debut for Villa in the 1945-46 FA Cup aged 19.
Villa had signed John from amateur side Leyland Motors in October 1946.
Unlucky with injuries - John required an operation on cartridge trouble in his intended debut season of 1946-47 - only to recover and pass muster in the Central League for his first team place to be prematurely lost as he dislocated his shoulder early in the game with Huddersfield Town on 14 February 1948. When fit, John was a quick and able forward, speedy with a good shot that he used to strong effect.
Over his four seasons with Villa John was mainly used as a back up to the first team and would only break five appearances in a single season on one occasion when he made seven starts in the 1946-47 season.
John played his final game for Villa on Saturday, 25 September 1948 aged 22 before moving on to Wrexham.
John had played under Villa manager Alex Massie.
John passed away in Lancashire in September 2006 aged 80.
