The forward netted from the penalty spot after being brought down by Tommy Elphick, who was shown a second yellow card.
Bamford, who hit the crossbar with a header in the first half, nodded in his second with 23 minutes remaining.
Villa defender Elphick earlier had an effort of his own ruled out.
Jake Doyle-Hayes shot, comfortably saved by Boro goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos, was one of Villaโs best efforts.
