January 2018: Aged 30, becomes the fourth Jamaican 🇯🇲 player to sign for the Villa after Simon Dawkins 🇯🇲 (2013), Daniel Johnson 🇯🇲 (2010) and Noel Blake 🇯🇲 (1979) and the sixteenth Villa player with Jamaican citizenship.
January 2018: Aged 30, becomes the third player to be signed by Villa from AFC Bournemouth 🏴 after Tommy Elphick 🏴 (2016) and Shaun Teale 🏴 (1991).
February 2018: Aged 30, becomes the 918th player to play for Villa in first-team League or Cup football since the club’s first entry into the FA Cup in 1879.
February 2018: Aged 30, scores his first ⚽ goal for the club on his third appearance.
April 2018: Aged 30, scores his fifth goal for Villa in twelve appearances.
Biography
Lewis Grabban
Player #918 for Aston Villa, Lewis James Grabban, played as a centre forward for the club during the 2017-18 season.
Grabban was born in Croydon on 12 January 1988.
Villa had signed Grabban on loan from AFC Bournemouth on 31 January 2018 until the end of the 2017-18 Football League Championship season, making his debut appearance for Villa on Sunday, 11 February 2018 in the 2-0 Championship win against Birmingham City, aged 30.
Grabban would go on to make 18 appearances in his loan spell with Villa, scoring 8 goals and providing one assist, playing his final game for Villa in the Championship play-off final defeat to Fulham on Saturday, 26 May 2018.
Sadly, despite his effective centre forward play and his ability to fit into the Villa system under Steve Bruce, Grabban’s loan could not be made permanent due to the financial straits the club found themselves in immediately following the play-off final, and Grabban was snapped up by fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest for the 2018-19 season.
Grabban had played under Steve Bruce.
