March 2017: Aged 19, becomes the 906th player to play for Villa in first-team League or Cup football since the clubโs first entry into the FA Cup in 1879.
August 2017: Aged 19, becomes the 249th Villa Youth player to play a first-team game for the club.
Biography
Corey Blackett-Taylor
Player #906 for Aston Villa, Corey Josiah Paul Blackett-Taylor, known as Corey Blackett-Taylor, played as a winger for the club in the 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns, making two appearances.
Blackett-Taylor was born in Erdington, Birmingham, on 23 September 1997 and had signed professional forms with the club in July 2016.
His signing, however, had come after his squad debut aged 17, something that had occurred the previous season under Tim Sherwood when Blackett-Taylor was named as an unused substitute in the 5-3 EFL Cup victory over Notts County in August 2015.
It was to be eighteen months and six managers later (including caretakers) before boss Steve Bruce promoted Blackett-Taylor to the first team squad, making his debut appearance for Villa as an 87โ substitute for Neil Taylor in the defeat at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, 7 March 2017, aged 19.
Blackett-Taylor was named in the squad for the following game but remained an unused substitute. That would prove to be his final squad appearance in 2016-17.
For the following season, Bruce named Blackett-Taylor in the squad for the EFL Cup 3rd Round tie at Middlesbrough on Tuesday, 19 September 2017, with Blackett-Taylor replacing Josh Onomah in the 81โ of Villaโs 0-2 defeat.
That would prove to be his final appearance for Villa and the final time he was named in the Villa squad.
Villa released Blackett-Taylor at the end of the 2018-19 season, aged 21.
