Player #334 for Aston Villa, George Brown, nicknamed Bomber, played as a centre forward for the club.
George played for Villa between 1929-30 and 1934–35 making 127 appearances and scoring 89 goals.
George was born in Mickley, Northumberland on 22 June 1903 and made his debut appearance for Villa on the 31 August 1929 aged 26.
Villa had signed George from Huddersfield Town earlier in August 1929 for a fee of £5,000.
George immediately flourished in the claret and blue of Villa, scoring 36 goals in his first season to not only finish top scorer but also to make the most appearances - 45 in a 46 game season.
Although 1929-30 was George’s most prolific season he continued to enjoy plundering the opponents’ goal throughout his Villa career - scoring five in one game against Leicester in January 1932.
At the start of the following season, 1932-33, George hit 11 goals in the first seven games, helping Villa finish runners up in the First Division once again.
In total during five years with Villa George scored 89 goals in 127 appearances, twice finishing runners up in the First Division.
George played his final game for Villa on 8 September 1934 aged 31 before moving on to Burnley in return for a fee of £1,400.
George had played under the Billy Smith led Management Committee and Villa’s first manager proper, Jimmy McMullan.
George passed away in Birmingham on 10 June 1948 aged just 45.
