Villa are held to a third successive draw this time with the appalling anti-football side Wimbledon. Villa have multiple chances but fail to take any as Garry Thompson has a goal ruled out for Warren Aspinall standing off side, Steve Hunt and Neil Cooper hit the bar, Aspinall hits the post, Tony Daley hits a 30 yarder that Dave Beasant had to save magnificently and Neale Cooper’s 66’ minute strike is fumbled by Beasant without anyone following up. Despite being winless in nine, Villa climb to 20th, one point off safety with bottom side Newcastle up next.
Billy McNeill's Villa make it three games unbeaten with three draws but now have just twelve wins in their last fifty seven League games losing twenty seven. Villa however remain second from bottom, three points off safety and three points off the relegation play off place with twelve games left to play.
