ON THIS DAY
Billy McNeill's Villa stop a run of four consecutive defeats as they secure a creditable draw with Championship chasing, and second placed, Liverpool. Villa however now had just twelve wins in their last fifty five League games losing twenty seven. As a result Villa fell to 22nd and bottom of the table, four points off safety and four points off the relegation play off place with fourteen games left to play. Meanwhile, Warren Aspinall made his Villa debut aged 19 after moving from Everton earlier this month for a fee of £350,000.
