In the end, if that was to be the case, then this most injury ravaged seasons would have been worth it. 

Midfiielder John Gregory 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 made his final Villa appearance aged 25 before moving on to Brighton in July 1979 for a fee of £300,000. Villa had bought Gregory for £60,000 from Northampton Town in June 1977 and he went on to play for Villa in 1977-78 and 1978-79 making 76 appearances and scoring 11 goals and returning in the late 90's as a cult hero Villa manager.
